FERMILAB-Conf-99/227-E CDF B spectroscopy results: B ∗ ∗ and B + c

چکیده

We report on two spectroscopy results from CDF. First, we observe the orbitally excited B∗∗ mesons in B → lDX events. We find 28 ± 6 ± 3% of light B mesons produced are B∗∗ states. A collective mass fit results in a B1 mass of 5.71± 0.02 GeV/c. Secondly, we observe 20.4 −5.5 decays of B + c →J/ψl X , with a 6.40±0.39±0.13GeV/c mass and 0.46 −0.16 ± 0.03 ps lifetime. The production rate is in reasonable accordance with expectations.

Preliminary results from two recent CDF b physics analyses are presented. The first obtains sin(2β) = 0.79 +0.41 −0.44 from a measurement of the asymmetry in B 0 , B 0 → J/ψ K 0 S decays, providing the best direct indication so far that CP invariance is violated in the b sector. The second obtains new results on the parity even (A0 and A) and odd (A ⊥) polarization amplitudes from full angular ...

Fermilab-Conf-99/013-E Tests of the Electroweak Symmetry Breaking Sector at the

The phenomenology of the electroweak symmetry breaking sector is expected to involve resonances decaying preferentially into heavy fermions. Three recent CDF analyses are reviewed and used to constrain Higgs and Technicolor models.

We present recent CDF results based on approximately 1 fb −1 of p¯ p collisions at √ s = 1.96 TeV delivered at Fermilab Tevatron. Results shown include the observation of the Bs oscillation frequency, the first observation of bottom baryon Σ (*)± b states, updates on B hadrons lifetimes, and searches for rare decays in the b → sµ + µ − transition and in charmless two-body B decays.
